Overview Of: OYRTMA EXTENDS DEADLINE FOR PAINTING OF COMMERCIAL MOTOCYCLES AND TRICYCLES TILL 1ST APRIL, 2020

The Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) has announced that commercial operators in Oyo State have been granted an extension of two weeks to comply with the state governments’ directives to all commercialmotorcycles otherwise called ‘okada’, tricycles also known as ‘keke’ to be fully painted in the colours of the state for commercial purposes.90242233 4222362607789786 7548944393302966272 n595522186764851128
The disclosure was made known yesterday 17th March, 2020 by the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Authority, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi whilespeaking with Newsmen in his Office at the state Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Dr. Fagbemi said the extension became necessary as a result of the dramatic rate of compliance recorded in the past two weeks with about 75% compliance rate.
Pleas from commercial operators of their inability to meet up with the ‘short ultimatum’ for Statewidecompliance, Mogaji Fagbemi added, further corroborated the decision for the two-weeks extension which would elapse on Wednesday, 1st of April, 2019.
The OYRTMA boss while imploring the operators to comply within the
approved extended time of two weeks urged them to take advantage of the state government’s magnanimity to subsidize the cost of painting at the Agency to one thousand naira (N1000) only as against the bogus price obtained with private painters. “After this period of extension elapses, defaulters would be severely dealt with according to the dictate of the law governing public transportation in the State”, the Executive Chairman concluded.
Part of the strategic aims of the uniformity in colour for commercial operators is to further enhance security, monitor influx and ease identification of commercial riders across the State
